ipad-254337_640 Each day this week I have shared a selection of apps appropriate for various grade ranges. On Monday I shared 21 apps for Pre-K through 2nd grade. On Tuesday, I shared apps 3rd through 5th grade students. Wednesday’s list featured apps for grades six through eight. Today’s list is for 9th through 12th grade.

Each day this week I’m going to share a selection of apps appropriate for four ranges of pre-K-12 grades. On Monday I shared 21 apps for Pre-K through 2nd grade. Yesterday, I shared apps 3rd through 5th grade students. Today’s list features apps for grades six through eight. Apps for 9th through 12th grade will be shared tomorrow.

ChemCrafter – Virtual Chemistry Experiments On Your iPad

Screen Shot 2014-04-29 at 2.27.06 PM ChemCrafter is a free iPad app that students can use to create a virtual chemistry lab to conduct virtual experiments. ChemCrafter is designed as a series of three interactive books. Each book contains a series of lab tutorials for conducting experiments. As students work through the experiments they earn virtual coins which can be redeemed for more lab materials to use subsequent experiments. Students have to complete each experiment successfully before moving on to the next one in the book. Each book has to be completed before a new book is unlocked. ChemCrafter provides a brief explanation of the reactions in each completed experiment.

When you first open ChemCrafter you’ll probably be struck by the feeling that the graphics came straight-out of the 1960’s. Take a look at the video below to see what I mean.
