A Short Guide to Sharing Media Through Google Drive for iPad

November 6, 2013 by admin

Screen Shot 2013-06-05 at 8.46.55 PM Cross posted from FreeTech4Teachers.com

I recently had someone ask me how her students could privately share videos they made on their iPads. My suggestion was to use the Google Drive iPad app to upload and share their videos. In the video below I offer a demonstration and explanation of this process.

See the document embedded below for more information about using the Google Drive for iPad app.

Finally! – Google Drive for iPad Supports Comments

June 5, 2013 by admin

Screen Shot 2013-06-05 at 8.46.55 PM This is probably the best news Google-loving iPad users have heard this week, the latest update to Google Drive for iPad supports commenting. Now, you can comment on documents on your iPad just as you would in your browser on your laptop. You can highlight a word or sentence then click comment to have your comment tied to a part of a document. To add a comment that is not tied to a part of the document, you can simply tap the comment icon while viewing the document. Just as you can in your web browser you can reply to your collaborators’ comments and resolve comments.

The latest update to Google Drive for iPad brings it closer to being as powerful as the web-based version of Google Drive.

Google_Drive_Logo_lrg-580x461 For a devoted Google Drive user like myself having Google Drive on my iPad is a must. Last week I had some questions from readers about how to use Google Drive on their iPads. Therefore, this weekend I put together a short guide to using Google Drive on your iPad. The guide is embedded below. I am using Scribd to host the document and you can download the guide from Scribd.

How to Use the Google Drive iPad App to Create Student Portfolios

December 16, 2012 by admin

I love Google Drive and I love my iPad, but they don’t always love each other. The Google Drive iPad app has improved over the last couple of months to the point where it’s not as robust as using Google Drive on the web or on an Android device, but it is much more functional than ever before. In fact, it’s now possible to create student portfolios through the Google Drive iPad app. Last week Greg Kulowiec, who I have done some iPad workshops with in the past, wrote up a fantastic set of directions on using the Google Drive iPad app to have students create portfolios. You can read Greg’s complete post on the topic here. The how-to video that he made I have embedded below.
