Crackers and Goo is a free iPad app that provides fun addition and multiplication practice games. The games resemble of a combination of elements from Frogger and Tetris. Each game uses the same format but each level increases the difficulty of the mental mathematics calculations required of the player.
On each level of Crackers and Goo students have to drag crackers (I think they look more like blocks) into place to complete a pattern. The blocks are drifting along in a stream. The longer they drift the more likely they are to get splattered by “goo.” The object to to complete the pattern before the goo splatters everything. After completing the pattern numbers appear in bubbles. Pick the correct bubble and drag it into the answer space before too much goo splatters over everything.
Crackers and Goo has sixteen levels. The first four levels are appropriate for K-1 while the rest of the levels are appropriate for grades two through five.
Crackers and Goo is a good option for classrooms that don’t have enough iPads to give one to every student as the app supports multiple player profiles. I entered six profiles into my installation of the app.
