iPad Apps About Animals and Cute Headphones for a Pair of Toddlers

December 21, 2018 by admin

Yesterday, I spent the day flying from Maine to Florida with my family. We have a 28 month old and a 14 month old. As any parent who has flown with toddlers will tell you, you pull out all of the tricks to entertain your children on the days you fly. In our case that included as much iPad use as they wanted. There was plenty of Clifford watching. There was also a lot of time looking at animal pictures and videos on the Kids US Atlas and Kids World Atlas apps.

Kids US Atlas and Kids World Atlas are iPad apps that feature interactive maps. It is a freemium app which means part of it is free and part of it requires an in-app purchase. I used just the free parts with my kids. The free parts of Kids US Atlas and Kids World Atlas have an interactive map that features animals. Kids tap on the animals to see pictures and videos of the animals. The Kids US Atlas app features 25 animals and the Kids World Atlas app features 40 animals.

Mpow Headphones

The picture at the top of this post is one that I shared on my personal Facebook page and on Instagram last night. A bunch of people wanted to know where we got the headphones that our kids were wearing. We got them on Amazon, of course!

The headphones are Mpow Kids Headphones. They come in a two-pack which is perfect for those who have two young kids. But the best part is that you can plug one pair into the other so that both kids can watch and hear the same iPad or phone. The Mpow Kids Headphones are currently available from Amazon for $25.99 and are Prime eligible.

And if you’re thinking about getting a new iPad, Amazon still has current generation iPads on sale for $249!

Teach Your Monster Read for iOS – Free Through the Weekend

March 21, 2017 by admin

Teach Your Monster to Read is a great game environment in which students can develop the speed and accuracy with which they recognize letters, sounds, and words. For the rest of this week and through the weekend (March 21-26, 2017), the app is completely free.

The Teach Your Monster to Read environment contains eight levels (or islands as they’re called in the game) each containing four activities. Students play the game as a friendly monster avatar. On each island students can earn prizes for their monsters and customize the look of their monsters.

Country Mouse and City Mouse – Interactive iPad Story

January 12, 2017 by admin

McGraw Hill has put the classic Country Mouse and City Mouse into an interactive format for iPads. The Country Mouse and City Mouse iPad app gives students the option of having the story read to them or to read the story to themselves. Each page in the story includes a simple animation. Students can make the mice in the story move around by touching them on their iPads.

This isn’t a novel app by any means, but it is a nice app if you’re looking to add some children’s stories to your students’ iPads.

Endless Spanish – An App to Help Young Students Learn Spanish

June 11, 2015 by admin

endless spanish From the same people that brought us the popular Endless Reader app comes Endless Spanish. Endless Spanish is an iPad app designed to help young students learn to speak and spell in Spanish. The app has an immersion mode and a translation mode. The immersion mode is completely in Spanish while the translation mode gives students directions and guidance spoken in English.

Endless Spanish presents students with common Spanish words that they have to spell. The app shows students the word, pronounces it aloud, then asks students to put the word back together by dragging letters on the screen. When students touch a letter on the screen they hear its pronunciation from the app’s narrator.
